global results on some nonlinear partial differential equations for direct and inverse problems
Direct and inverse results in Hölder norms
We present a general approach to obtain direct and inverse results for approximation in Hölder norms. This approach is used to obtain a collection of new results related with estimates of the best polynomial approximation and with the approximation by linear operators of non-periodic functions in Hölder norms. © 2005 Elsevier Inc. متن کاملOptimization Methods in Direct and Inverse Scattering
Solving inverse problems, in particular inverse scattering problems, parameterfitting procedures are used quite often because the analytical inversion procedures are not available. The general scheme for such procedures is simple: one has a relation B(q) = A, where B is some operator, q is an unknown function, and A is the data. In inverse scattering problems q is a potential, and A is the scat...
متن کاملBreast MRI segmentation for density estimation: Do different methods give the same results and how much do differences matter?
PURPOSE To compare two methods of automatic breast segmentation with each other and with manual segmentation in a large subject cohort. To discuss the factors involved in selecting the most appropriate algorithm for automatic segmentation and, in particular, to investigate the appropriateness of overlap measures (e.g., Dice and Jaccard coefficients) as the primary determinant in algorithm selec...
متن کاملParticle Swarm Optimization and Uncertainty Assessment in Inverse Problems
Most inverse problems in the industry (and particularly in geophysical exploration) are highly underdetermined because the number of model parameters too high to achieve accurate data predictions and because the sampling of the data space is scarce and incomplete; it is always affected by different kinds of noise. Additionally, the physics of the forward problem is a simplification of the reali...
